Pittie in Pink
Volunteer
Pittie in Pink does not have a shelter facility where we house adoptable dogs. We believe dogs do best when they are part of a family environment so all of our dogs live with caring, committed and qualified people who help them take the next steps in their lives.
Fostering is a huge help and it is hugely rewarding. Take a few minutes to read our FAQs about fostering, then if you think you’re ready, please fill out the foster application.
What to expect as a Foster
Taking a dog into your home to prepare him for the next phase of his life is a crucial part of the rescue process. Fosters are expected to treat their dog like a member of their family, provide exercise and training, and create a foundation of trust for a dog who has no place to call home. You’ll provide your dog with structure and a routine that’ll help him thrive as well as manage his schedule of medical care and appointments as necessary.
As a foster, it’s also your job to do as much as possible to help get your dog adopted. As you get to know your dog you’ll be asked to write up a bio to be posted to his or her web page profile and take great photos of your dog, or work with one of our professional photographers to make sure he has the best photos possible. You’ll be expected to attend adoption events (when you can) and share your foster dog on your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts to get him as much exposure as possible. Most of our dogs are adopted after being discovered on social media!
In exchange for al this, you’ll be paid in unconditional love and the gratitude of a dog who desperately needed you!
What does pittie in pink cover?
Pittie in Pink will provide you with everything you need to care for your foster dog: a crate, food, collar and leash, toys, and food bowls. We also cover all the costs of medical care. If you choose to provide anything extra for your foster dog, remember that everything is tax deductible, so go ahead and spoil them!
Don't you just want to keep them?
Sometimes! Many of our fosters have "failed" a time or two. That doesn't mean that they were bad fosters, it means that they ended up loving the dog so much that they adopted the pup for themselves! Your first foster dog is always the hardest and it's hard to let them go. No one will judge you if you break down and cry after your foster dog gets adopted. However, you've just saved a dog's life, and sometimes that dog ends up "saving" their new adopter. There are few things more rewarding that seeing facebook posts from new adopters bragging about their amazing new pit bull. Don't worry though, we are constantly getting new dogs so we will have another amazing foster dog for you to cuddle!
Ok, you got me. how do I sign up to foster?
YAY! You're going to save some pittie lives! Our foster process is similar to our Adoption Process, you need to start with the application. Click here to download the application. When you're done, email it to PittieInPinkRescue@gmail.com
**Please note, we're working on creating a separate Foster Application. Some fields in the adoption application will not be applicable to Fosters, write "N/A - Foster" where necessary.**
